DWELL

One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.

Psalm 27:4

Dwell is an opportunity once a week to gather together and to do what David expressed as the “one thing” he desired to do; to take time to “gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple”. We do this by meditating on a verse or phrase of Scripture and spending time, allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us into deeper revelation of God; his thoughts, his ways, his heart and his character. As we do this we encounter the one who transforms us.

The dictionary defines to meditate as:

to contemplate, to dwell on anything in thought, to think seriously, to muse, to reflect, to think about at length and in depth.

Therefore we understand biblical meditation to be an encounter with God through his word, focusing on one phrase or one verse of scripture, asking God questions and engaging in dialogue with Him. We allow the Holy Spirit to illuminate the word and bring fresh revelation, making the word more real to our everyday experience.

During the evening we begin by looking at the verse we have chosen and then meditate on the word individually. During this time each person takes time to engage in a conversation with God about the words or phrases that the Holy Spirit is highlighting and to record that conversation in writing and/or drawing. Following this time we share with one another the things that have been impressed upon our spirit.

Our hope for these evenings is that each person would go deeper in their relationship with God and that together we would gain greater revelation of him. Dwell is open to all – just come hungry to know more of God.

Dwell is held on Mondays at 7.00pm
